Profile Picture
Thank you for all your input on my profile picture. I had an unbelievable response from entries into my personal email and from Facebook. Okay, my husband was right again (just don't tell him that...lol). The photo I'm going to use for the back of my book jacket is the one where I'm sitting.
Again, I should mention that the photographs were complimentary from a local photographer, Al Stupak. I think he's marvelous! I offered to pay him, but no. He wanted absolutely nothing in return. Does this only happen in Saskatchewan, Canada?
Author Platform
Promotion begins now, even before the book has been published. What I've done this week to build my author platform:
1.) Created a new blog - *Journey to Publication*
2.) Ordered business cards
3.) Shopping for a vehicle deco
I just picked up the business cards from Staples. I drive about 6 minutes, to the other side of Yorkton (and I mean clear across town), and hand them the order form. Gosh, it was just the other night that I designed the cards online. And the total cost for 250 cards came to $21.99. Can't beat that! And I didn't even get out of the store, when one guy, who works there, asks me for a card...:). YES, life is good!
Book Cover
I get home and check my Internet, and there on the screen is an email from my artist, Grace E. Metzger. The subject title reads Art Book Cover Fee. I squeeze my eyes shut and click the 'open' button. Recessive blinking occurs. I've heard these covers can be in the thousands of dollars. Yes, I'm still in shock. And again I'm not sure how I'm going to return the amazingly low cost of my art cover design. Like, isn't it remarkable? (Please don't compare my business card photo...you can give me all the credit for that one. I don't think anyone will be hiring my services...lol).
I'm off to remeasure my back windows. Seems my book template won't fit.
Until next time...tune in to my *Journey to Publication*.
