Waiting for water to boil…ever noticed if you stare at a pot of water sitting on top of the heated element, it seems to take forever to boil?
I don’t know about you, but I’ve discovered that if I go do something constructive, the water bubbles up over and splashes onto the heated element in no time.
So what do I do while waiting for Nancy to edit the second half of my book?
I busy myself with resource reading, blogging, managing the PPS business, leisurely reading and relaxing, swimming, fishing, visiting friends and family. I’m filling my time. Desperately, I’m trying not to think about my book. It doesn’t help when I dream about the day when “Conquer All Obstacles” physically fits in my hands—when I can flip through the pages and suck in the best possible smell in the world…the aroma of fresh pages.
And what could be better than basking in the entire glory of having your own finished product visible and evident for the entire world to view? Nothing!
Like waiting for the water to boil and busing myself with tasks around the kitchen, the usual remedy to pass time just isn’t working. No matter how much ‘stuff’ I cram in the day, it’s not making the time pass by quickly.
Do I sound like a child waiting for Santa the day before Christmas?
“Nancy, how much longer?” I asked within the confines of my mind, as a child would question her mother as to when they’d arrive at the conclusive destination during a long car ride.
As God has many times answered my prayers, the email finally arrives. I click it open and read…
I have been feverishly trying to get your book ready to send to the printer this month. I’m attaching chapters 6, 7, 8, 9. These last couple of chapters have been pretty clean, so I hope the rest won’t take as long.
I have attached chapters 10 and 11 for your review. You really found your groove in these last chapters. Not many changes.
I'm so excited! Wow, you've been a busy lady.
Just got home from fishing up North at my Dad's. Took my daughters and we had an awesome time.
Today, I'm planning to dive into the chapters you've sent...I cannot wait!
So how many more do we have left? What's the next step, after I submit these chapters back to you?
Chat with you later.
No hiding the excitement with all the questions that still buzz uncomfortably within my head.
I only lack chapters 12-15, which I hope I can get through today if I don’t have too many interruptions. When they are finished I will begin laying out the book. I am trying really hard to get it to the printer before I leave on Friday.
Oh, my gosh! Did she say this Friday? Did she just print she’s hoping to have my book to the printers on Friday? Oh, my gosh…now my stomach matches my head, feeling more like flies banging against a window.
Something tells me that this is going to be a tremendously long week and it will seem forever before that darn water boils.
